Bernadette. Peters was born Bernadette. Lazzara, born in Ozone Park Queens New York on February 28, 1948, is a singer/songwriter, as well as a writer of children's books. Through her career, which spans over five decades, she's appeared in musical theatre film and on television, and has also performed on her own and in recordings. She is one of the most critically acclaimed Broadway performers, having received nominations for seven Tony Awards, winning two and eight Drama Desk Awards winning three. Grammy Awards were won for four Broadway casts albums in which she performed. Peters played as a kid on stage and was followed by teenage acting roles in the 60s and the 1970s. For her early stage work as well as for her TV performances, which included The Carol Burnett Show The Muppet Show and Annie. The actress returned to Broadway during the 1980s which was when she became the most famous Broadway actor for the next 30 years. She has also released seven solo albums, and a number of singles. She has also recorded many cast albums, and is a regular performer in her solo concert act. Peters is also a TV and film actor who was awarded a single award and recognized in three Emmy Awards.
